What is the Biblical
“New Moon”?
THE BIBLICAL NEW MOON
Adonai's Sacred Calendar is based on the lunar cycle, and the observance of the first day of each month (the New Moon).
The new moon marks each new month for Adonai
the New Moon of the Bible,
which is still observed on the Jewish calendar so that we keep
observing Adonai's true Holy Days at the appointed times that He stated
The Calendar Court used astronomical calculations to determine the first day of the new year and the New Moon, the first day of each month was always confirmed by a physical observation of the new moon to make sure there were no mistakes in the calculations.
At the end of each month, Two watchman were placed at high points around Jerusalem to watch the sky for the new crescent. As soon as the new crescent was sighted, each watchman went to the house called "Beth Yazek" to be examined by the president of the Calendar Court. When the evidence for the appearance of the New Moon was deemed satisfactory, the president rose up and formally announced it by uttering, "Mekuddash" (i.e., "it is consecrated or sanctified").
When is the Biblical New Moon? Is it the dark of
the moon? Is it the first faint visible crescent?
New Moon festivals were required under the Mosaic law Numbers 28:11
New Moon festivals were times of celebration They were marked by blowing of trumpets Numbers 10:10 See also Psalms 81:3
