Being prepared isn’t complicated, it just takes a willing heart to do something about your situation. If you have postponed prepping, then NOW is the time to start taking preventative action and ready yourself and your family for what’s ahead. With the looming threats of Ebola, an economic collapse, martial law, and a possible solar flare EMP, we can no longer sit on the sidelines and think the ‘government’ can handle it all. They can’t!! And history has proved that they won’t… the Great Depression, the Holocaust, and more are just a few examples of how they have failed us….Don’t postpone any longer, get ready! The more who prepare the better…. In the video below Alex Jones interviews Joel Skousen about what we’ll need when the collapse comes. Here is the breaking video…

Dr. Josh Axe suggests five essential oils that are a must-have in your medicine cabinet and the best way to administer them. How many of these do you have in your home? 1.) Tea Tree Oil (disinfects and cleans) 2.) Peppermint Essential Oil (soothes, cools, and freshens) 3.) Lavender (heals skin, relaxes, calms) 4.) Lemon (invigorates, cleanse, fat loss) 5.) Frankincense (boosts immune system, reduces inflammation, increases brain function, decalcifies the pineal gland) Many people have never tried a cigarette and still have problems with the lungs, while others smoke for 45 years, and even after that long period their lungs are still functioning well … it depends from person to person, and below we will tell you a few tips how you can purify the lungs within three days. Here’s How To Clean The Lungs In Just 3 Days
-Two days before the process of detoxification, it is necessary to eliminate all dairy products from use. The body needs to get rid of toxins from the dairy products before the purification of the lungs. -Before the first day of the regime, drink a cup of herbal tea before going to bed. It will release the toxins from the intestines. The lungs must not be overloaded with difficult work of any other part of the body during the purification. -Drain two lemons in 300ml of water before breakfast. -Drink 300ml of grapefruit juice. If you do not like the taste, you can replace it with pineapple juice. These juices contain natural antioxidants that improve the breathing system. -Drink 300ml of pure carrot juice between breakfast and lunch. Carrot juice helps you alkalize the blood during the three days of purification. -You have to drink 400ml of juice rich in potassium during lunch. Potassium acts as a tonic for cleaning. Before going to bed make 400ml of cranberry juice. It will help in the fight against bacteria in the lungs that can cause infections. -Take care of your body and do exercises. -A warm bath of 20 minutes each day will allow the body through sweating to lose more toxins. It’s actually a matter of some debate. The conventional medical fraternity seems to be of the opinion that colon cleansing is unnecessary. On the other hand, people who are interested in a holistic health lifestyle, and those pursuing a natural health regime seem to be of the opinion that colon cleansing is beneficial.
Whatever the answer, and whichever school of thought you prefer to follow, you can be sure that the foods to cleanse your colon that we will discuss in this article can only benefit your overall health and well being. Colon Cleanse Food # 1 – Fiber A diet that is high in fiber is excellent for keeping your digestive system in good working order. It also helps to hold moisture within the colon, which in turn helps to soften any stools, making them easier to pass. Fiber is also believed to have the ability to work rather like a brush in cleaning any food debris from your colon. Fiber comes in two forms – soluble and insoluble. Soluble dissolves in water, but insoluble does not. Insoluble fiber is a great aid to both preventing and getting rid of constipation, whereas soluble fiber helps to increase the amount of beneficial bacteria in your digestive tract. This in turn helps to minimize any harmful bacteria, the likes of E. coli and Salmonella. Some of the best sources of fiber (both soluble and insoluble) are Flaxseeds and Oats. Oats are great as a breakfast cereal made into porridge, whilst flaxseeds can be sprinkled over porridge, or yoghurt, fresh fruit or salad. For a list of other foods that are high in fiber, simply follow this link. Colon Cleanse Food # 2 – Apples You may have heard this somewhere before, but “an Apple a day keeps the doctor away” – and so it does! Most colon cleansing products that can be bought over-the-counter in health food stores, or stores that sell herbal medicine, contain some form of apple – either juice, extract, or Apple Cider Vinegar. The reason is that Apple is an excellent cleansing food. As well as being high in fiber, apples also contain pectin which is a carbohydrate compound that acts as a thickening agent in your gut, helping to carry food through your digestive system. One of the great things about Apples is that you can carry them around with you anywhere as an easy, convenient snack-food. Colon Cleanse Food # 3 – Celery Celery is also universally recognized as being one of the best foods to cleanse your colon. Like the Apple, it too is high in dietary fiber and easily portable as a snack, anywhere anytime. Another important fact about Celery is that it is one of the few negative calorie foods. In other words, your digestive system uses more calories to process Celery than are actually in the Celery itself. It’s great to include as part of any calorie controlled diet. The act of munching away on a stick of Celery helps your tummy to feel full, but with only 8 calories per stick, it doesn’t really impinge of your daily total calorie intake. Those four-eyed individuals will one day be able to rub those bullies noses into the fact that those glasses could be the difference between life and death. There are several everyday items that can be used to survive in the wilderness, shoelaces to make rope, socks to filter water or a volleyball named Wilson to have conversations with. But one of the most useful at-home items someone can use in the wilderness are eyeglasses.
Notice how the people from Walking Dead, never use glasses to survive. And they keep dropping like flies. Vision Assistance Obviously glasses help people see, but out in the wilderness it can be more than that. Sunglasses or transition lenses can protect from blindness against the elements. If someone is climbing a mountain completely covered in snow, there is one basic color, and that is white. The problem with this is when the sun comes out, that white snow becomes blinding. Another area in which sunglasses can protect eyesight is out in the ocean. Just like snow, when the sun shines onto the water it can become extremely bright. A pair of sunglasses protects the eyes from the overwhelming brightness of the snow or water and lets an adventurer see clearly without damaging their eyesight. Protection from the Elements Not only do glasses guard against the sun, they also guard against injury. If someone is in a desert area, glasses can be essential to protecting the eyes from the sand. If winds come up, sand can be a vicious thing and having it slice into the eyes can be extremely serious. Even is someone is not in a desert area, a forest or jungle with high winds can carry a lot of small harmful objects that can wedge themselves into an eye. Starting a Fire One of the most well-known uses for glasses in the wilderness is starting a fire. The lens inside a pair of glasses works the same way as a magnifying glass. When the sun hits a lens it creates a beam of light that converges all the energy of the sun into one small area, which creates heat. The thicker the lens the better because it results in a stronger conversion. Fire means life when trying to survive. It is what makes food, filters water and provides warmth. A pair of glasses starting a fire can truly save someone’s life. Create a Useful Tool The lenses inside a pair of glasses can be used for more than making fire. With the assistance of a sharp rock, a lens can be filed down to create a small sharp knife. This can be helpful to use as a weapon but also a tool. A knife can help cut roots or plants to eat. It can also be useful for cutting meat. If someone has caught an animal, the knife can be used for skinning and cutting out the meat. It is helpful for gutting and fileting fish as well. Signal for Help Similar to the process of making fire, eyeglasses can partner with the sun to create a help signal to oncoming travelers. When the light bounces off or transmits through a lens, it results in a small flash or glare. Travelers can often be too far off to hear someone shouting and may not be paying close enough attention to see a someone who is stranded. A glint of sunlight or a glare can be seen farther off, and if someone can manage to shine it into someone’s eyes, they will be more likely to turn around and notice that someone needs help. Catching Dinner If someone has wire frame glasses, the temples of the glasses can be used to create a fish hook. The temple tips can be bent into a hook shape and sharpened with a rock. If someone can find some strong roots or vines along with a small bug, they have just created their own fishing pole and dinner is a catch away. Survival of the fittest may have just turned into survival of the nerdiest, so before someone starts a new adventure, grabbing some Ray Bans glasses could very well save their life. Those that do survive during a long term emergencywill no doubt be tried and tested with a great many things. One of those trying scenarios is dealing with death.
Zombie attacks seem to be a prevalent theme for preppers to prepare for. In fact, the CDC has even posted a preparedness article on how to ward off zombie attacks. While I believe these zombies will likely take the form of substance abusers, mental patients, chronically ill or diseased, and desperate individuals whose basic needs have not been met, they will die out in the first few months of an onset of a major disaster, and there presence will rarely be an issue in a long term situation. In reality, a majority of those that will die during a long-term disaster will be from illnesses brought on by acute respiratory infections due to cramped living conditions, poor water conditions (or lack of), or bacterial infections from wounds. If we survive a major disaster, America would become a third world country and the aftermath of such a scenario will be similar to those living in Africa, Ethiopia and India. Illness Due to Poor Water Conditions Typically, any diseases that are brought on by lack of sanitation and hygiene are controllable and preventable. In a disaster where water sources are compromised, people within a 50 mile radius could be adversely impacted by illness and disease if just one person incorrectly handles water or incorrectly disposes of waste. Contaminated water, poor sanitation and/or lack of hygeine leads to diseases such as Hepatitis A, viral gastroenteritis, cholera, Shigellosis, typhoid, Diphtheria and polio. If these diseases affect enough people, an epidemic will ensue. RELATED : 50 Survival Items You Forgot To Buy Dehydration and diarrhea are also water-related matters to contend with. Those without adequate water conditions and/or are suffering from disease brought on by poor water conditions could quickly dehydrate. These types of illnesses typically affect at-risk populations such as children, the sick and the elderly. Young children in particular are at high risk for diarrhea and other food- and waterborne illnesses because of limited pre-existing immunity and behavioral factors such as frequent hand-to-mouth contact. The greatest risk to an infant with diarrhea and vomiting is dehydration. In addition, fever or increased ambient temperature increases fluid losses and speeds dehydration. Having knowledge beforehand on how to properly clean drinking water and food, and the symptomatology and treatment of these types of diseases can prevent further outbreaks from occurring. Malnutrition Malnutrition from either improper water conditions or from lack of nutrients is also a large killer amongst those in impoverished communities. Medical experts say there is a symbiotic relationship between malnutrition and diarreah. Malnutrition increases the severity of diarrhea while diarrhea can cause malnutrition. Either way, prevention for both of these health issues is key. Those that are malnourished are more suseptible to illness and disease. Individuals who are malnourished will also be vitamin deficient and their health is likely to regress further. Those who survive from malnutrition are permanently affected by this disease and may suffer from recurring sickness, faltering growth, poor brain development, increased tooth decay, reduced strength and work capacity, and increased chance of chronic diseases in adulthood. Adult women with this condition will give birth to underweight babies. Recommended preparedness items: dietary supplements, vitamin powders, seeds for sprouting or seeds for fresh vegetables and fruits, survival bars, knowledge of alternative means to attain vitamins Acute Respiratory Infections Upper respiratory infections (URI) will also be a leading cause of death in a long term disaster. Upper respiratory infections include: colds, flu, sore throat, coughs and bronchitis can usually be cured with additional liquids, rest and nourishment. Allowing the illness to exacerbate will lead to secondary infections such as bacterial pneumonia. The germs from pneumonia are easily spread from an infected person to others by coughing or sneezing or through close contact. A major concern about respiratory infections is that there are many drug resistant strands of viruses, bacterias and diseases (including tuberculosis), that regular medicine will not cure. In a long term disaster situation, many could perish. To properly prepare for this type of medical situation, learn about the more prevalent viruses and bacterias in your country and how to prevent them in order to provide a healthy living environment in a long term situation. RELATED : Diabetic Survival in a SHTF Scenario Not only are URI’s a concern but other air-borne diseases such as tuberculosis will likely fester during a long term scenario. In regular non-SHTF times, treatment for tuberculosis requires 6-12 months of medication. In a long term emergency, chances of surviving tuberculosis are slim. The best way to prevent tuberculosis is adequate nutrition, vitamin D and living in a properly ventilated shelter. Survival groups that have multiple people living under one roof will only increase the likelihood of passing air-borne infections and diseases to one another. In addition, those in an at-risk group (elderly, immuno-deficient, infants) are more likely to catch illnesses. If a survival group is sharing a home, an infirmary or sick room should be prepared for those who have fallen ill. Isolating the person who is ill will limit exposure to the other members of the group. Adequate nutrition, water, rest, good sanitary practices and ventilation of the home is essential in curbing this. Recommended preparedness items: decongestants, expectorants, upper respiratory medicines, antibiotics (for secondary and bacterial infections), knowledge on medicinal herbs, prepare a sick room at your survival homestead Infections From Wounds Open injuries have the potential for serious bacterial wound infections, including gas gangrene and tetanus, and these in turn may lead to long term disabilities, chronic wound or bone infection, and death. Anitibiotics will be few and far between and will be more precious than gold. Without proper medicines, antiseptic and knowledge on proper medical procedures, many will die of bacterial infections. Learning medical skills, gaining knowledge on natural medicines and alternative medical antiseptic (i.e., Dakin’s Solution) before a disaster occurs could help people survive from wound infections. Also, ensuring the area that you treat medical emergencies is clean and as sterile as possible may also prevent bacterial infections. Recommended preparedness items: stock up on maxi pads for wound absorption, gauze, celox, antibiotics, suture needles and other basic first aid supplies. Additionally, consider developing the following skills: basic first aid class, sign up for EMT classes in your community, an off-grid medical care class such as those offered by onPoint Tactical. Also, consider investing in books such as When There is No Doctor and When There is No Dentist. Also look into making your own antiseptics utilizing alcohol distillation, such as the custom made units from LNL Protekt. These illnesses (provided above) have impacted countries all over the world. These illness and conditions, coupled with unsanitary living conditions such as substandard sanitation, inadequate food and water supplies and poor hygiene, make disaster-affected people especially vulnerable to disease. These illnesses will affect us no matter what part of the world we live in, what socio-economic status we currently hold, and no matter how prepared we think we are. Understanding what can happen and being prepared when it does is absolutely essential. The last thing we want to do when a serious condition arises is to panic. Preparing your supplies, developing your skills and educating the rest of your family and preparedness group on how to prevent, identify and counteract these serious conditions will provide a significant boost to your ability to survive if the worst happens. In the real world, no one is perfectly healthy. Sickness and disease do not choose any particular age, gender, or race. Even preppers are not exempted from the reality of medical conditions.
It is already difficult to live with a medical condition. The situation can become twice as difficult when you are faced with a crisis. Imagine what would happen if the drug stores were shut down. It is a good thing then that preppers also learn how to stock up on needed supplies like medicines, particularly preventative drugs, so that those in their party with medical conditions can have a good chance of survival no matter what. Tips for Prepping with a Medical Condition A medical condition may not be easy to deal with but it is a reality. The key to survival with a medical condition is acceptance. It could be you or a member of your family who is suffering from a disease or sickness. When faced with a disaster, you have to face it while taking care of the one suffering from the medical condition. Do all that you can, using what you have in order to keep each other alive. Medical Conditions and Emergency Preparedness An important part of any emergency preparedness plan that can easily be overlooked is medication. No matter what type of medical condition you have, you don’t want to find yourself in a crisis situation without the proper medication. Ensuring that your medication is covered by your emergency preparedness plan involves these six steps. 1. Compile your medical information. This can be cumbersome but is invaluable in the event of an emergency. Having all of your information organized and ready to go makes it much easier to get help for your medical condition if necessary and keep your medication regimen on track. In your medical file you should include: Emergency contacts, including at least one friend or family member that lives at least 100 miles away. Your doctor(s) and other medical providers. A list of the medical conditions you have and medications you take, making sure to include the dosage, frequency, purpose of medication, and the name and phone number of the doctor who wrote the prescription. A copy of the prescription for every medication that you take. You may also want to leave a copy with a national pharmacy chain. If you wear glasses or contacts, include those prescriptions as well. A notation of any sensitivities or allergies that you have. Your immunization history. Information regarding any medical equipment or support systems that you use. Take care to consider things like hearing aids, hearing aid batteries, oxygen, wheelchair batteries, service animals, and the like. If you have a communication disability, include a note of the best way others can communicate with you. You should keep all of these records with you emergency preparedness kit as well as with a trusted friend or relative who lives out of town that can be reached in the event of an emergency. If you feel comfortable doing so, you may also want to scan and email copies of your medical information to yourself so that it can be accessed from anywhere. An alternate suggestion is to store this information in the cloud. A survival situation is not an excuse to give up on those who are weak or suffer from a medical condition. Instead it is a time to prove to yourself and to the world that you have the strength and the will to survive despite all the obstacles. Remember this, if you were able to live through the hard times and all kinds of survival situations. With your skills, you or anybody else who is suffering from a medical condition will be able to survive. Life should always be treated with care and respect. Imperfect as people are, we have to keep our focus in times of crisis and stick to the most basic reason for being prepared, that is the preservation of human life: ours and those of our loved ones. Most medical conditions are treatable and manageable even in a survival situation, as long as proper medication is available and proper steps are followed. Imaginations run wild and people come up with all sorts of doomsday scenarios, because the world is a dangerous place.
In some cases after reading this type of headline and skimming the first paragraph or two, you realize the author may be playing on your fears. You however, suspect some things, and others are on the fringes of your imagination. You think possible but not likely, when it comes to certain situations. Fear sells in today’s world because everyone has fears, and you can connect with others that have the same fears by surfing the Internet. You can connect with thousands, tens of thousands of people, in a matter of seconds that have the same fears. If everyone has the same fear then there must be something to it, right? RELATED : Rawles: ‘If the Power Grid Goes Down, I Would Not Recommend Being In a Town of More Than 500 Population’ What Exactly Is a Power Grid? An electrical grid is an interconnected network designed to deliver electricity from suppliers to consumers. The grid consists of a series of generating stations, which produce electrical power from sources many miles away, hundreds if not thousands of miles away in some cases. Then there are high-voltage lines that transmit power from the distant sources to demand centers, and then distribution lines run from distribution centers to transmit the power to individual customers. This is a simplified description of an electrical grid and in essence, there is no such thing as the grid. It is a network, of power sources, demand centers and distribution centers and it is not located in one place. The high power transmitting lines from the sources can cross international boundaries as well. The Continental U.S. power transmission grid consists of about 300,000 km of lines operated by approximately 500 companies (FEMA). The so-called grid is not in one place and is not controlled by any one entity, so in some cases, any grid failures would be localized and so the grid does not actually fail as a whole, but all three grids can fail in a series. It will be a series of failures, that may take several hours, several days or possibly longer and in some parts of the country you may have a warning it will fail. It is not a singular national power grid. There are actually three power grids operating in the 48 contiguous states. The first one is the Eastern Interconnected System for states east of the Rocky Mountains. The second one is the Western Interconnected System, from the Pacific Ocean to the Rocky Mountain States. The third one is the Texas Interconnected System. The systems as a rule operate independently of each other (U.S. Department of Energy). If one grid fails this does not mean the others necessarily will, but there is the domino effect, because one of the three grids would try to meet the greater demand, because of the failure of one. This may result in a failure of the grid(s) attempting to meet the demand. The entire system is administered under mandatory procedures set up by the electric power industry’s new electricity reliability organization (the North American Electric Reliability Corporation). The corporation has oversight provided by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the U.S. Department of Energy (U.S. Department of Energy). The system is now called an interlinked system, which includes over 3,200 electric distribution utilities with 10,000 plus generating units and there are tens of thousands of miles of transmission and distribution lines that supply power to millions of customers. There is uncertainty in Federal regulatory procedures that address who may be responsible for paying for new transmission lines. This is one of the biggerproblems with the power grid. There is uncertainty about the private sector’s ability to raise money to build them. In other words, every town, city and community has to pitch in and help pay for upgrades, and new lines and it seems that every city and town has better things to do with their money, because most are financially strapped. The power grid is old, and it has not been maintained properly because there are constant squabbles over who pays the bill for it all. Once politicians get involved, things tend to go off the rails. In March of 2014 a study, not released was cited by the Wall Street Journal. The source of the study was the federal government, and is believed to be in response to a sniper attack, a coordinated sniper attack at a power station in California. Some experts believe the attack was a “probe” of the system to find vulnerabilities and see what the response would be. The study says that a blackout is likely to last a year or longer. The unreleased study goes on to say that coordinated attacks on the three grids as described earlier would disrupt power to nine of the nation’s 55,000 electrical substations. This according to the study would cause a nationwide blackout (Fox News Insider, 2014). RELATED : Attack on Our Power Grid: The Existential Threat No One Is Talking About Obviously, any number of things could shut down the entire nation. How likely are they to happen however? What is likely however is a series of attacks, and thus failures that will ripple through all three of the grids causing an entire shutdown eventually? As stated earlier if you realized something has happened to the grid in Texas, for example, and you live on the East Coast you would realize your grid could or would fail ultimately. Nuclear detonation whether it is atmospheric or surface would create an EMP that would cause a major disruption or even destruction of the electrical grid. Hackers could shut down one grid, and this would cause a strain on the others that may lead to all three failing. It is not hyperbole to state that if all three grids fail that the lights would be out for an extended period, years perhaps. The grid for all practical purposes is not protected, regulated properly nor is it maintained properly. All this along with hackers, rouge nations, and terrorists all add up to a grid failure of all three at some point in your life, a failure that could last for years. |
